National Synoptic Information


A Synoptic chart is any map or chart that depicts meterological or atmospheric conditions over a larger area at any given time.

The charts on this part are drawn from information supplied by the Bureau of Meterology.

Friday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

A trough will take thundery rain from the interior to eastern QLD. Brisk westerlies behind a front will cause showers and alpine snow in the southeast. A high will cause wind and showers to ease in SA and clear southern WA as a trough cause patchy rain in the north.

Saturday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

A high will bring a cold morning and generally dry day to the southeast as westerly winds in TAS maintain showers. A trough will only cause isolated thundery showers in QLD. A broad trough over the western interior will generate rain, some heavy, and thunderstorms.

Sunday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

A Tasman high will bring a generally dry day to eastern Australia, with a few showers in onshore winds over northeast QLD. A trough should trigger rain and thunder over the interior and SA. A front will bring a burst of cold air that will trigger showers along the southern coast.

Monday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

A strong cold front should sweep through the southeast, spreading cold winds, showers and alpine snowfalls. A trough will trigger more showers and storms across the interior and QLD. A high will direct cold air onto the coast bringing showers across the south.

Tuesday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

Westerly winds will cause scattered showers across southern VIC and TAS. A trough across QLD will cause rain and isolated storms. A high will ease winds and bring a mostly sunny day to the south. A trough and instability in the northwest tropics will trigger rain and storms.

Wednesday - 10:00pm EST

Synoptic chart

A deepening trough in the northwest will cause rain in the western and central interior. A high will direct cold onshore winds over southeast SA, southern VIC and TAS bringing showers. Onshore winds may trigger a few showers over northeast NSW and southeast QLD.

A deepening trough in the northwest will cause rain in the western and central interior. A high will direct cold onshore winds over southeast SA, southern VIC and TAS bringing showers. Onshore winds may trigger a few showers over northeast NSW and southeast QLD.
